Directions to the Coach House

From Chester:

Travel 12 miles west of Chester on the A55 heading towards North Wales, you will have passed a service area "Hotel-Diner-Macdonalds" on your left after about 6 miles. Continue past the turnings to Connahs Quay (B5126) and Flint (A5119) and the road (A55) climbs up toward Halkyn for the next mile.

You will see a "Little Chef/Travel Lodge" on the left hand side of the road, immediately after there is a sign to Rhosesmor and the left turn about 100 metres further on. Having taken this turn the road climbs up and after 200 metres you will pass the "Britannia" pub on your right.The road turns sharp right with a junction just afterwards to the left. The junction faces the pub. Take the left turn and the road climbs with a sharp right bend after 60 yards.

The road reaches another T junction at the B5123 with Halkyn Church on your right hand side.Turn left towards Mold.
The road climbs uphill through a leafy avenue of trees over a cattle grid, with a severe narrow sharp double bend at the end. Continue on past Halkyn and the "Blue Bell" pub. Continue over the Common with an open view passing Pant Quarry and the School on your left. The road dips down and there is a sign marked Rhosesmor on the left. The long stone wall surrounding trees and the Old Vicarage is on your left, turn in at the 5 bar gate.

From Mold:

From Mold take the A541 Denbigh road and just after 3 Km there is a right turn for Rhosesmor on the B5123. Go uphill for 2 Km then through the village with the playground and phone box on the right.

Pass the Church, on the left, and leave the village. About 200 metres further on the road bends to the left, you will see on the right  the Old Vicarage with a 5 bar gate.

Call at the Old Vicarage for keys, The Coach House is up the drive to the right of the Old Vicarage.

History

The Coach House, built in the 1880's, was originally used to stable the Vicar's coach and horses.

The Vicarage was sold out of the Church Estates in the early 1970's. In 1992 the building was converted and modernised after half a century of neglect.
